Summer nights in Granada. The heat gives us rest and a blanket of stars in front of the Alhambra invites us to continue gathering memories, unique moments that we will take back home in our suitcase.
In the summer in Granada, as well as sun, history and good gastronomy, we have an endless number of plans, including music. And the fact is that our city, where culture sprouts in every corner, has the best stages to enjoy the best music, in this case the gardens of the Generalife.
The Alhambra has always been linked to music. Opera, flamenco, classical music... Its walls have hosted the sounds of exceptional musicians, as exceptional have been the occasions when the fortress has been opened to celebrate other musical encounters dedicated to other artistic genres.
1001 musicas, comes to Granada to combine and offer the public a more contemporary music, full of fusion where we are sure that apart from enjoying your favourite music, you will be able to enjoy the monumental Alhambra as you have never done before.
First edition 1001 musicas festival
Constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries, what was once the palace used by the Muslim kings as a place of rest, has housed its own theatre since 1952. Its construction was promoted by the start-up of the Granada Music and Dance Festival.
Built respecting the architectural lines of the orchards of the Generalife, its stage offers a natural screen of cypresses, being unique in Spain.
From the 23rd of July until the 28th of September, top music artists will come together to offer a series of concerts in the Alhambra. This third edition has more than met the challenge of bringing together national and international pop and rock stars in a space that was previously relegated to dance and classical music.
Since 2021, artists such as Lori Meyers, Loquillo, Pablo Alborán, Mon Laferte or Texas have stepped on this mythical stage, opening the way and starring luxury evenings in Granada's summers.
This year 2024, it will be the pianist and singer Diana Krall who will open the festival. A three-time Grammy Award winner, she is the only jazz singer whose eight albums have debuted at number one on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.
